A System for Self-Education

"I believe in a system of some kind for self-education. It doesn't have to be formal classes or courses. It may be an informal discussion group or well-conceived reading program. But without some system or external discipline, most adults tend to give up after a good start on something and fall back to old ways."
-Stephen R. Covey

This is exactly what Team is. Two CDs a week to encourage and instruct; and one book a month hand picked by people with measurable success in the areas of finance, relationships, health, family, faith, etc. There are also seminars ($25) where speakers are flown in to your area and you can meet them in person and hear them relate their story in their own words.

They call it “leadership development” because what our country needs is people who take responsibility for their actions and act on true principles (or in other words become leaders). “Self leadership” is the beginning of success in the work place, the home, church, and community.

My Results?

After one year of reading, listening, and associating with successful people on Team (I’m just getting started), I went from a factory job to a corporate position where I actually use what I chose to study in college. I recently received a significant raise. I use my time more wisely and am more disciplined in my religious studies. My wife and I sit down weekly and review and set goals. I have time to work on projects I have not "been able” to work on for years. I have more confidence in myself, much more hope for the future, and feel much more equipped for whatever life throws at me.

I still have a long way to go, and really, this is not at all about me. It is about a world class leadership development program that is available to everyone – even that annoying guy at work or your neighbor. Wouldn’t it be great if they would actually use it? Wouldn’t it be great if you actually used it. Why not invest in yourself?
